Wedding Party

Inga has known Lucy for twenty years and it would probably be easier to list the things that they haven’t done together. Their friendship has spanned countless adventures, from sandboarding dunes in the Sahara desert to fist pumping in the Sahara tent. Lucy’s wit makes every roadtrip, and her thoughtfulness makes sure we remember to take our vitamins. Lucy was there when Inga met Andy for the first time in Ktown! Inga is continually amazed and honored to have a friend as loyal, smart, funny and kind as Lucy is.

Terence is the younger of the Chiu siblings. Although Andy is supposed to have the wisdom of age, he’s usually the one trying to keep up with his not-so-little brother. Terence swims faster, benches more, and knows more about wine. He also has the nicer collection of mechanical keyboards. Whatever rabbit hole Andy happens to be going down at the moment, there’s a pretty good chance that Terence is right there beside him.

Inga met Connie in 7th grade band where Connie played the bassoon while I played the flute. She never complained about lugging around a gigantic instrument. Taking care of people comes easily to her. They were roommates in college and have had so many adventures together at Berkeley, all around California, and NYC. Connie was there when Inga met Andy for the first time in Ktown!

Since meeting during their summer internship many years ago, Yujin and Andy have basically gone through every major and minor life event together. Andy likes to think that they get along really well, but it's probably more likely that Yujin is just super patient and an overall great person. Whatever the ups and downs, Andy is confident that Yujin will always be there to get advice from, complain to, and generally count on.

Inga met Jojo at an Asian women’s retreat in Seattle. They immediately connected mostly because Jojo’s personality is endlessly optimistic - she is her friends’ #1 hype woman and Inga is lucky to call her a dear friend. Jojo is the best representation of NYC hustle and the multi-hyphenate with healthy dose of California friendliness.

At this point, Andy has known Andrew for more of his life than not. When they first met on the swim team back in high school, Andy befriended and admired Andrew because he was the "fastest swimmer on the team." Although Andy quickly realized he had been misled, they still remained friends. Since then, Andy has continued to admire Andrew because he is one of the smartest, kindest, and most caring people he knows.

Andy has been bffles with Allene for years, ever since they met in North Carolina. During their time in New York, they liked to do many things together, like eat lunch, eat dinner, and eat dessert. As you can imagine, once Inga came into the picture, she fit in seamlessly. In fact, she was quickly promoted to be Allene's bridesmaid, while Andy was relegated to usher. Nevertheless, the three of them continue to bond over trying new restaurants and Asian dramas.

Andy was originally drawn to Joon in banking training because of his exotic accent, which apparently exists when he speaks Korean as well. While Andy had his moment in being able to format a spreadsheet faster, Joon was by far the better and more successful banker. Despite working really hard and now building a family, Joon never fails to make time to meet up and hang out. Eat, drink, or club, Joon is always down.

I met Bonnie in junior high and we bonded in band. We’ll never forget the fun band trip we went on to Disneyland in 8th grade. To be exact, it was May 7-9 in 2008 and we used to remind each other every year of it’s anniversary. Actually though, I met Andy over those same days in 2013, so there’s something special about those dates. We also heard Usher’s “Yeah!” song at a wedding on that Disneyland trip, and I distinctly remember thinking to myself how cool it would be to play that song at my wedding far in the future. Well here we (almost) are. Bonnie is also a key member of the Smiling Crabs friend group. She is such a thoughtful and talented friend!

Steve is basically the reason Inga and Andy are getting married. After meeting both through work, he introduced them almost a decade ago and has been a close friend ever since. Steve has a huge heart and always takes care of everyone around him. His passion, generosity, and smile are infectious. Inga and Andy are incredibly grateful and fortunate to have Steve in their lives. Until he tries to make them drink.

Inga met Phil in college because they lived on the same floor. There were many adventures in college including a memorable wine tasting trip in San Francisco, but it was really after college when they became best friends. They’ve roadtripped all around California together, going to Coachella and skiing in Tahoe, and just sitting at boba shops for hours.

Together with Corinna and Andy, the four of them have gone on annual trips to Cancun, Mexico City and more. Nowadays, their favorite hangout spot is at home, perfecting the art of the sobremesa.

Phil has seen Andy through all his various phases of fitness and usually takes Andy’s side when Andy and Inga have a debate. Phil doesn’t like people much, so Inga and Andy are honored to be among the few he tolerates.

Phil and Corinna are getting married a month after us, and like much in life, we do it together! We can’t think of a better person to officiate our wedding.
